2010 Community Project: Ronald McDonald House of Greenville

Ronald McDonald House helps families of seriously ill, hospitalized children cope with the stress and expense of daily living while trying to be close and emotionally strong for their child. The house in Greenville has 12 rooms and is constantly in need of donations to provide this valuable help.

WHITEN FOR RONALD

In order to raise money for our local Ronald McDonald house, we are asking our patients to join in our fun. There are two ways to help. We will be selling raffle tickets for chances to win FREE professional whitening with our office. For only $8 you can purchase your chance to win a free professional whitening system, the cost of one night's stay in the house for a family. We will be randomly drawing 25 winners on August 20 (which will be great odds for winning!!!), and our staff will be providing your winning WHITE smile on Saturday, August 28. (You must be available on the morning of August 28, 2010 for your appointment. All winners will be checked to ensure they are proper candidates for whitening. If not, or if you prefer, you may transfer you winning to ticket to someone who does dentally qualify.) Checks may be made out to Ronald McDonald House of Greenville. ALL proceeds from Raffle sales will be going towards Ronald McDonald House.

PopTabs for Ronald

We will also be collecting the pop tabs from aluminum cans at each of our offices to donate to Ronald McDonald House of Greenville. Please collect your tabs and drop them by the next time you come to our office. This has been an ongoing fundraiser for the House and continues to help them operate.

Help us help them!

Ticket to Drive

In 2009 all summer long, our patients really pulled through with a canned food drive to benefit Harvest Hope Food Bank. Patients brought in LOADS of canned goods during their visits (and some made a special trip to donate) helping to stock the shelves of a local food bank helping many people newly affected by job loss and hard times. In return, ten families who participated won "tickets to Drive" with game tickets to the local Drive game and a prize pack, chosen from monthly drawings. Thanks to all of our patients who made this year's community project such a huge success!

Breast Cancer Research Fund

Our 2008 community project came after another one of our own staff "family" was faced with breast cancer. Tying in our love our baseball, we wore pink baseball hats and pink shirts, terming it "Pink Hat Fridays." We asked our patients to participate by wearing anything pink on Fridays, and our doctors donated a percentage of the production for those patients to the Breast Cancer Research Fund. The project also included inviting over 200 patients and friends to join us at a local Drive game where the doctors donated the tickets and asked for free will donations to the fund. Appropriately, we wrapped things up after October's Breast Cancer Awareness month and made our donation of over $2500!!! When we team together, what a difference we can make!

St. Jude's Ranch

In 2006 we began efforts to assist St. Jude's Ranch for children homes for abused, abandoned and neglected children. There are three ranches in all, located in Texas and Nevada, providing a home-like atmosphere for children 9 months old through 18 years. The Campbell's company has offered to buy a new Dodge minivan for St. Judes' with every 1.5 million food labels that are returned to them. (8 vans have been purchased, so it IS possible!) We have collected nearly 1500 labels. We appreciate the many patients who have helped! For a list of accepted soup and food labels, please stop by either office or call us; we will happily mail or fax on to you. For more information on St. Jude's Ranch for children, visit their website at: www.stjudesranch.org. Thank you!!

Giving Back

DentistsOur staff and doctors believe in giving back to the community, and do so in many individual and group efforts. Our most recent contributions to our community have been in helping A Child's Haven, a place for neglected and abused children here in Greenville, by providing them with tooth care packages. The doctors donate their time at Greenville's Free Medical Clinic providing emergency care to those less fortunate. Rocky Creek Dental Care has also recently donated to Riverside High School, Sara Collins Elementary, the Junior League of Greenville, the Spinx charity golf tournament, and The Children's Museum.

February is Dental Health Month and a great opportunity to reach out to the children in schools. This year we visited Concrete Primary School and First Presbyterian Academy, educating them on dental care and nutrition. We have frequented Oakview, Pelham Road, and Augusta Circle Elementary schools, over the years, as well, presenting on dental health and technology. We are also proud to have been sponsors for First Presbyterian Academy's fall festival.
